Crown continues to lead the way on initiatives to tackle problem gambling

Crown has implemented two world-first responsible gaming initiatives at its Australian Casinos
  • Responsible GamingOn-site Responsible Gaming Support Centres (at Crown Melbourne since 2002 - open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week)
  • Play Safe: voluntary time and loss limit program (available at Crown Melbourne since 2003) which allows gaming machine customers to set daily spend and time limits

Responsible Gaming Support Centres (a world first initiated at Crown Melbourne)

Crown Melbourne

  • A world-first responsible gaming initiative offering on-site support services 24 hours a day, 7 days a week
  • In operation since 2002, the Centre is the hub for all Crown Melbourne’s Responsible Gaming Services
  • Includes private counselling rooms and access to on-site Responsible Gaming Psychologists and the availability of the Chaplaincy Support Services
  • Provides problem gambling information brochures and contact details in languages other than English
  • Crown Melbourne has Responsible Gaming Liaison Officers who interact with customers on the gaming floor

Crown Perth

  • A Responsible Gambling Information Centre staffed by qualified personnel offering support, advice and referral services to customers
  • In operation since 2009, the Centre accommodates the Responsible Gambling Team and provides a convenient venue to meet with customers
  • Operating during business hours, the Centre and the Responsible Gambling team is to operate 24 hours a day, 7 days a week from September 2012

A Board Committee dedicated to Responsible Gaming:

  • In 2011 Crown established a Board Committee dedicated to overseeing responsible gaming
  • Chaired by Crown Director, Professor John Horvath, it meets regularly to review and monitor Crown’s responsible gaming programs, recommending policies and procedures to enhance the effectiveness of those programs

Staff Training to identify and report:

  • Staff training and education at all levels is the cornerstone of Crown’s responsible gaming program
  • Staff undergo training during induction and throughout their employment at Crown
  • Staff are trained in identifying the observable signs that a customer may be experiencing difficulty and are instructed to make their manager aware of the situation

Self-exclusion policy: 

  • Crown has an active Self-exclusion policy where customers can ban themselves from entering or remaining on the gaming floor
